I'm just learning how to quilt, so small patchwork projects are becoming my favorite holiday project. If we are looking outside of sewing, though, I love to glitter everything!

Every year I make an ornament for each of my kids and close friends. This year I am also working on a hexagon star christmas tree skirt that probably won't get finished in time.

My favorite holiday is Halloween. I love to make costumes. I've made quite a few through the years. I love the creativity I see on some of the children who show up at my door. It's too bad so many costumes are store bought. Home made ones are so much better.

I do enjoy making Christmas themed decorations and quilts, but my very favorite holiday sewing is the Halloween costumes I used to make for my son when he was younger. He always wanted something unique -- one year he was a hammer and his best buddy was a nail (I also made that costume). One year when he was in high school he was a giant Swedish Fish (like the candy). Such fun!

Every year that my children were growing up my Christmas gifts were centered around a theme each year was different. I remember hand embroidering quilts for each of my kids as infants and then again I did it for my 3 kids as they got older. Now I am learning how to quilt and I find it just as interesting that I can create patterns to create pictures as well.

Your Quilt along reminded me that Christmas was coming and I needed to redo my last at home Daughter's quilt as she has out grown her last one.

Thank you.

I have enjoyed watching this quilt progress and participating with my own fabric choices. I most enjoy making Christmas ornaments each year with the grandkids. We love the Christmas season and start early to make it last as long as possible.

E.Nix said...

I buy tons of holiday themed fabric and make placemats for gifts, re-useable holiday cocktail napkins (heavy on the machine embroidery!)and cube shaped ornaments stuffed with batting. Each of the six sides of the cube is either a mini-block or a holiday fabric. The placemats are easy to machine quilt and in the gift bag I add paper napkins in a matching color.
